Our compensation philosophy is that our incentives should be heavily aligned with our authors’. When we win, our authors win. Infernal Moose provides 3 tiers:
- 25% for the first $20,000 sales while we recoup our initial investment.
- Between $20,000 and $60,000 sales, 35%: The writer’s guild’s estimate of the most fair royalty rate.
- After $60,000 sales, 50% royalty rate to reward authors for breakaway success.
These estimates incorporate distributor’s fees. Amazon’s is roughly 70% if your book is between $2.99 and $9.99 and 35% otherwise.
